The origin of "Iwashiya"
Approximately 1,200 years ago, our ancestors ran a tea shop at the current location adjacent to the former Hokuriku Expressway.
A traveler was suffering from getting a sardine bone stuck in his throat while eating at a tea shop.
Kobo Daishi passed by and told them, "Let them drink the water from the well in this store".
The family's name is said to have been derived from the fact that the bones of travelers were removed all at once, and from that time on, they were led to call themselves "Iwashiya".
