The origin of “Iwashiya”
Approximately 1,200 years ago, our ancestors ran a tea shop at the current location adjacent to the former Hokuriku Expressway.
While eating at a teahouse, a traveler was suffering from a sardine bone stuck in his throat, when Kobo Daishi passed by and told him, “Let him drink the water from the well in this restaurant”.
The family’s name is said to have been derived from the fact that the bones of travelers were removed all at once, and from that time on, they were led to call themselves “Iwashiya”.

by Hokuriku Shinkansen
The Hokuriku Shinkansen provides much better access not only from Tokyo but also from the northern Kanto area.
It takes at least 2 hours and 30 minutes from Omiya Station in Saitama Prefecture.
You can enjoy rich seafood such as tagged brand crab “Echizen crab” even on a day trip.
